Operational analysis

Operational Diagnostic

For leaders who can see the operational symptoms but need a disciplined assessment of the underlying cause before committing to a solution.

Before the diagnostic starts

A paid Scoping Engagement comes first

The complimentary Fit Call confirms whether the situation is within Fair Measure's scope. The paid Scoping Engagement then establishes the evidence, boundaries, and commercial structure required to define the right project.

  1. Operational Fit Call (free, 30 minutes)

A qualification conversation to review the issue, its business impact, and mutual fit.

  2. Paid Scoping Engagement

Relevant background information is reviewed before a structured 90-minute working session. Fair Measure then analyzes the stakeholders, workflows, systems, and business impact involved and prepares a defined scope, timeline, and fixed project price.

  3. Operational Diagnostic

The analysis begins and produces the Operational Improvement Blueprint below.

The approach

Methods selected to fit the problem

The Diagnostic uses the methods required to establish evidence, isolate the underlying cause, and quantify its operational impact. The method follows the problem; Fair Measure does not force every engagement through the same workshop or template.

Process and handoff analysis

Maps how work moves across roles, decisions, systems, and departments to identify delay, rework, and unclear ownership.

Root-cause analysis

Uses methods such as Five Whys and cause-and-effect analysis to distinguish the underlying issue from its visible symptoms.

Capacity and process effectiveness

Evaluates demand, workload, constraints, cycle time, and Operational Process Effectiveness where the available data supports it.

Stakeholder and performance evidence

Combines interviews, observation, customer or employee input, and baseline measures to test assumptions against the way work actually occurs.

What you get

The Operational Improvement Blueprint

A single deliverable that lays out the full picture and a clear next step.

  1. Current-state findings

A clear account of the operational issue, supported by the evidence gathered during the engagement.

  2. Root-cause analysis

The underlying causes and contributing conditions, distinguished from the visible symptoms.

  3. Business impact

The effect on time, capacity, cost, consistency, customer experience, or growth.

  4. Prioritized recommendations

Recommended changes sequenced by impact, effort, risk, and operational dependency.

  5. An implementation roadmap

Which opportunities call for process redesign, technology, automation, training, or organizational change — and in what order.

Pricing and timeline

Fixed scope, quoted after the Scoping Engagement

The Operational Diagnostic is a fixed-scope engagement. Its price and timeline are provided after the Scoping Engagement, once the size and complexity of the issue are sufficiently understood. You can review the proposal before committing to the Diagnostic.

Begin with an Operational Fit Call

We will review the issue and determine whether the Operational Diagnostic is the appropriate next step before any project is scoped.
